Kejriwal government's callous working is responsible for increasing air and water pollution levels along with rising number of pollution related deaths in Delhi-Adesh Gupta

Delhi BJP demands that Kejriwal Government publish a WHITE PAPER regarding steps it has done to curb pollution levels in Delhi during last 5 Years-Adesh Gupta

New Delhi, 10th JanuaryDelhi BJP President Adesh Gupta has expressed shock over increasing pollution levels in Delhi and rise in number of deaths due to the same, in the city despite Delhi Government's tall claims of taking steps to curb pollution in the city. He said, that recent pollution level studies have revealed that air quality of Delhi is worst not only in the country but almost across the globe. But still Kejriwal government is not serious to work on curbing pollution problem.

Adesh Gupta said that, Delhi witnesses extremely high dust pollution even in interior lanes of the city as roads break and most parks are unmaintained, as MCDs are unable to maintain them as Delhi Government is not releasing the due development funds. Delhi Government has abundant funds, including around Rs. 1136 crores collected as environment cess, but it is doing little for curbing dust pollution mainly responsible for poor air quality in the city. Similarly Delhi's water quality is deteriorating fast, as both ammonia level and direct fall of sewerage into the Yamuna River has increased a lot during last 5 years. Kejriwal Government has failed in setting up new STPs and its Delhi Jal Board has done little to regulate direct fall of dangerous silt into the Yamuna River through open drains. Arvind Kejriwal Government in its 2020 election manifesto had promised to provide ammonia free water to Delhi but the situation is that for last several months’ ammonia level in Yamuna River’s Delhi stretch is the highest ever. Strangely, ammonia level rises after Yamuna enters Delhi means that its pollutant factors are in Delhi.

Delhi BJP President has said that, it’s sad to note that a very high number of deaths caused by pollution are being recorded in the national capital, shaming Delhi world over. He accused the Kejriwal government of betraying Delhiites that in the year 2018 a green budget was brought to control pollution under which a total of 26 major promises were made but till date none of those promises have been fulfilled. Even after getting the Centre's permission, no electric bus was purchased, nor did the Kejriwal government install any anti-smog towers, didn't even plant two trees out of the promise of planting two crore trees. Today, if any of these promises were implemented on the ground then people would not have lost their lives due to pollution. It seems that for the CM Kejriwal, there is no value for the lives of Delhiites, as their promises are seen only on hoardings and not fulfilled in reality.

Adesh Gupta said Arvind Kejriwal Government has failed on pollution front and we demand that Delhi Government brings a White Paper on what steps it has taken to control air and water pollution in Delhi during last 5 years.
