After over 50 years working in the media industry, I was fortunate to travel across our nation. The most striking aspect of our culture to me was how one river nurtured humanity and nourished the entire northern belt of our motherland. It was with this realization that along with my co-author Vinay Sankochi, we wrote “Ganga Ek Ehsaas”.

I traveled over from Gomukh to Ganga Sagar tracking the course of the river to find out how our lives and our livelihood is intertwined with this life line called Ganga. There is no doubt in my mind that over the years we have abused the environment and polluted the river and yet I have that unflinching faith that the administration and the generations ahead will heal Ganga just as they find Ganga to be healing.

In this travelogue, I have tried to see Ganga through the eyes of the new generation through a fictional account to aid the readers through dialogue and yet substantiated with current realities.

When you read this book, you will be able to follow the journey of a young boy of an Indian origin but from the America unfolds (and therefore the ‘Ehsaas’) various facets of the mighty river, starting out unimpressed initially and ultimately not being able to leave to go back from India and instead begins the healing journey for his mother Ganga.

The book was formally launched by Hon’ble Shri Nitin Gadkari ji on July 29th ,2019 and is available on Amazon as well as a few printed copies available to be ordered by dropping me an email on ved.sharma@Hotmail.com. Hope you will find it enriching and entertaining.
