Sanitation Drive will be conducted in corporation schools on the occasion of Mahatma Gandhi's birth anniversary: Mr. Vijay Goel, Vice Chairman Gandhi Smriti and Darshan Samiti

 


Vice Chairman of Gandhi Smriti and Darshan Samiti, Mr. Vijay Goel, Mayor of North Delhi, Mr. Raja Iqbal Singh, Mayor of South Delhi, Mr. Mukesh Suryan and Mayor of East Delhi, Mr. Shyam Sundar Agrawal addressed a joint press conference at Civic Center and said that on the occasion of 152nd birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi Ji, Swachhta Pakhwada would be organized in corporation schools. During the press conference Chairman, Standing Committee in North DMC, Mr. Jogi Ram Jain and former Mayor of South Delhi, Mr. Narendra Chawla were also present.

 

Vice Chairman of Gandhi Smriti and Darshan Samiti, Shri Vijay Goel informed that on the occasion of 152nd birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi ji, Swachhta Pakhwada was organized in 700 schools of North Delhi Municipal Corporation, 582 schools of South Delhi Municipal Corporation and 350 schools of East Delhi Municipal Corporation. one each Volunteer will coordinate with the principals of the schools for cleanliness in the school buildings and during the drive other junk will also be removed. After this, wherever required, along with painting, furniture, swings etc. will also be fixed for the children. He said that the school is closed now and this work will send a good message to the citizens regarding cleanliness. He said that the cleanest school among the corporation schools would be given an award by the Gandhi Smriti and Darshan Samiti.

 

Mr.Vijay Goel said that a fancy dress competition would be organized for children in the age group of to 10 years, in which children would disguise themselves as different forms of Gandhiji. The photo can be uploaded on the MyGov portal, the link of which will be released on October 1He said that the best pictures would be given attractive prizes. Along with this, a competition of self-written jingles on Gandhiji and his philosophy will also be organized. Attractive prizes will be given to the first, second and third prize winners. He said that any student of any school can participate in these competitions.

 

Mayor of North Delhi, Mr. Raja Iqbal Singh said that Mahatma Gandhi ji, believed that cleanliness was equal to devotion to God and therefore he had taught people to maintain cleanliness and gave an excellent message to the country. He said that the children of North DMC would be told about the ideals, ideology and objectives of Gandhiji through online education so that the students could take inspiration from them in their lives. He said that online competitions would be organized for the children about Gandhiji philosophy.

        

Mayor of South Delhi, Mr. Mukesh Suryan said that South Delhi Municipal Corporation will take the work being organized regarding cleanliness to the public and will spread the ideas of Gandhi ji to the people.

 

Mayor of East Delhi, Mr. Shyam Sundar Agrawal said that cleanliness is done every day in corporation schools, special attention will be given to cleanliness of school buildings in this cleanliness drive. He said that messages would also be put up with pictures of Gandhiji in the schools of East Delhi Municipal Corporation.
