NEW DELHI/ YOGRAJ SHARMA/ AAJ KI  DELHI

DELHI,—Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee president Shri Arvinder Singh Lovely today addressed meetings of District and Block Congress Committee presidents and observers at the DPCC office, Rajiv Bhawan in connection with the massive India Alliance public meeting to be held at the Ramlila Ground on March 31, and exhorted them to ensure the participation of maximum number of Congress workers. He said that the rally was  to protest against the authoritarian manner in which the BJP Government at the Centre was harassing  and suppressing the voice of the Opposition parties.

Besides Shri Lovely, prominent among those who addressed the meetings were former DPCC President Shri Subhash Chopra, Ex-ministers Haroon Yusuf, Rajkumar Chauhan, Mangat Ram Singhal, Dr. Narendra Nath, Ex MP Ramesh Kumar, AICC Secretary Abhishek Dutt, Ex MLAs Vijay Lochav, Neeraj Baisoya, Veer Singh Dhingan and Surender Kumar. Shri Arvinder Singh Lovely said that the timing of the freezing of the Congress party’s account on flimsy grounds and the harassment of prominent Opposition leaders by the BJP Government when the Election Commission has announced the dates of the Lok Sabha elections was only to harass and torment Opposition parties. He said that BJP was scared of defeat in the Lok Sabha elections, despite the façade of confidence exuded by the BJP leaders, and that was the reason Opposition parties were being targeted for harassment.

Shri Lovely said that Congress workers should turn up in thousands for the rally to show the party’s solidarity with the India Alliance partners as tormenting the Opposition parties at the time of the Lok Sabha elections was a deliberate move to throttle democracy and the voice of the people of the country by the communal party, which was trying to enforce a divisive agenda across the country.
