NEW DELHI, May 22, 2024-Member of Parliament and CWC member Dr Shashi Taroor, addressing a Press Conference at the DPCC office, Rajiv Bhawan here today, along with Chairman of the Communications Department Shri Anil Bhardwaj and spokesperson Shri Anuj Attrey, for the three Congress candidates of I.N.D.I.A Alliance for the Lok Sabha elections,  said that people were looking for change, and after having travelled across the country for election campaigning and having  interacted with the people, common sense and the trends seen in the country in the first few phases of the elections, reveal that  people were looking for change, and even at BJP’s strongholds, it has   suffered erosion of support evident from the limited turnout and drop in voting, brightening the chances of the Congress and I.N.D.I.A Alliance candidates. He said that BJP’s “Abki Bar, 400 Paar” campaign was a complete fantasy.

 

Dr Shashi Taroor said that in 2019 due to the tragedy at Pulwama, the Lok Sabha election, which should have been a referendum on the economic failures of Bjp in his first term, turned out to be a conversion national security, but the results of the 2019 elections are impossible to replicate for the BJP this time, due to changing trends.

 

“We are doing significantly better than last time in places like Rajasthan, Haryana, Madhya Pradesh, Chattisgarh and even in Uttar Pradesh. On top of that, in Bihar, Bengal and even a couple of places in Gujarat, it is not going to be easy for the BJP, and our Atma Vishwas (self confidence) has gone up”, Dr Taroor elaborated. He said that the main purpose of this Lok Sabha election was to change the Government in Delhi.

 

Dr Shashi Taroor said that going into the last two weeks of this election, it has become apparent that people are disillusioned with the Modi Governor for the undelivered promises in the past ten years, and in every constituency, national and local issues were being highlighted by the Congress party and “we are looking forward to very good results”.

He said that Shri Rahul Gandhi will also address a Town Hall for the Congress candidate for North West Delhi Lok Sabha candidate Dr Udit Raj on Mahila Vichar-Vimarsh (Maha Lakshmi Nyay Yojna) at Panchi Tent House, near petrol pump, industrial area, Phase-1, Mangolpuri tomorrow, Thursday, May 23, 2024 at 12.30 p.m.

 

BJP deceives slum dwellers with unfulfilled promise of providing in-situ flats, and ownership rights to those living in unauthorized colonies

 

Shri Anil Bhardwaj said that the BJP deceived those living in unauthorized colonies with ownership rights and those in slum dwellers with in-situ flats to relocate them from their slum clusters, and the BJP has totally sidelined these issues in its Lok Sabha election manifesto. He said that the Congress party had begun the process of regularizing 1,731 unauthorised colonies, but the Modi Government halted the process, indulging in charges and counter charges.  He said that out of the 8 lakh residents registered for ownership rights in unauthorized colonies,  only around 25,000 people have so far got conversion deeds.
