Congress committed to remove Bhalswa landfill when I.N.D.I.A Alliance Government comes to power at the Centre—Devender Yadav

Congress will implement all its 5 Nyay and 25 gurantees, including Rs 1 lakh per year to the woman head of a family, under the Mahalaxmi Yojna—Devender Yadav

NEW DELHI, May 22, 2024—Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee president Shri Devender Yadav, addressing a large public meeting for Congress candidate of I.N.D.I.A Alliance for the North West Delhi Lok Sabha Dr Udit Raj at Bhalswa Dairy in the Badli Assembly today, said that what has been of grave concern for the people of the area was the highly toxic and  polluting Bhalswa landfill as this mountain of garbage has made the life of the people miserable. He said that the BJP Government had not taken any step to remove this landfill, despite the BJP being in power at the Centre for 10 years and in the Municipal Corporation of Delhi for 15 years. He said that more waste beyond its carrying capacity was being dumped at the Bhalswa landfill to create a mountain of garbage, and the recurrent fire at the landfill was also making the air toxic, causing severe eye and respiratory illnesses to the people. He said that corruption to the tune of several thousand crores had been committed by the BJP for buying trommel machines to reduce the waste mountain. He said that as soon as the Congress and I.N.D.I.A Alliance comes to power at the Centre, the Bhalswa landfill problem will be totally eliminated.

Prominent among those present were DPCC President Devender Yadav, North West Congress candidate Dr. Udit raj, Communication Deptt. Chairman & Ex MLA Anil Bhardwaj, Ex MLAs Surender Kumar, Utrakhand former Minister Shri Harak Singh Rawat, AICC spokesperson Ragini Nayak, AICC Secretary Col. Rohit Chaudhary, Amrita Dhawan, DPMC President Pushpa Singh,  Inderjeet shaukeen, Sidharth Kundu, Abdul Wahid Qureshi, Jai prakash Rana and Neele Pehlwan.

Shri Devender Yadav that the Congress Government had introduced the Rajiv Rattan Awas Scheme to provide affordable flats to the poor, and 45,000 flats were constructed under this scheme, but the BJP Government did not allot them to the poor, instead the BJP Government wanted to rent out these flats. He said that the BJP Government’s promise of giving flats under the in-situ scheme to the slum dwellers was also not adhered to.

Dr. Udit Raj said that he was seeking votes from the residents of North West Delhi on the basis of the works he had done when he represented the constituency in Parliament from  from 2014-2019, when he tried his best to bring all- round development in the area. He said that many big schemes were also approved for the development of the area when  he demitted office,  but the BJP MP who successes him to represent North West Delhi Lok Sabha constituency in Parliament, set the clock back by not only stalling all development works, but also deliberately not starting works on the projects which had been given sanction when he was an MP.

Dr Udit Raj said that Hans Raj Hans, who represented North West Delhi in the Lok Sabha after him,  could not even start many of the schemes that had been sanctioned, though the votes were sought by Hans in the name of Modi and yet again, the BJP candidate was seeking votes in the name of Modi. He said that if the BJP candidate wins,  the  same mistake will be repeated  with the new MP failing to get any development works going.

Shri Anil Bhardwaj said that the BJP MPs have betrayed the trust of the people of Delhi during the past 10 years as they did nothing for the development of Delhi and the welfare of the people. He appealed to the people of Delhi to elect the Congress and I.N.D.I.A Alliance candidates in all the 7 Lok Sabha seats from Delhi  this time for the overall development of the Capital and their own welfare, as the Alliance Government will spare no effort to put Delhi among the best cities in the world, as had been done by the Congress Government, when it was in power in the Capital for 15 years.
