Congress will protect the interest of the farmers’ interest at any cost—Devender Yadav

Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee president Shri Devender Yadav, addressing a “Delhi Dehat Mahapanchayat”at the Bawana Village Panchayat Ghar today, said that special emphasis has been given for the welfare and protection of farmers and their produces in the Congress Nyay Patra for the Lok Sabha elections. He said that the five Nyay and 25 guarantees in the Congress manifesto include justice for the farmers, and improvement of the lives of the people in the rural areas of Delhi, and these will be implemented when the Congress and India Alliance partners come to power at the Centre. The Mahapanchayat was presided over by Ex Municipal Councillor  Ch. Ishwar Singh.

Sarpanches from all rural areas were present at the Mahapanchayat and they honoured Shri Devender Yadav by tying the traditional turban on him. The common refrain at the mahapanchayat was that the farmers were looking for change, and they have resolved to elect the Congress and India Alliance candidates in the Lok Sabha elections to throw out the authoritarian Modi Government from power.

Besides Shri Devender Yadav, prominent among those present at the meeting were Ex MLA Surender Kumar, Ex MLA Vijay Lochav, Jag Pravesh Kumar, Inderjeet Singh, Municipal Councillor Mandeep Singh and Akshay Lakra.

Shri Devender Yadav said that he was ready to undergo any sacrifice to protect his people as he was one among them, son of a farmer, and he will continue his fight on their battle. He said that land acquisition was a major issue dogging the villages, and Congress will ensure that the land acquisition was done with the consent of the farmers, which was there in the Land Acquition Act passed by the Congress Government, which the Modi Government was trying to bypass. He said that there was no question of Congress supporting amendments to the Right to Fair Compensation and Transparency in Land Acquisition, Rehabilitation and Resettlement Act, 2013, as our leader Shri Rahul Gandhi has always raised his voice to protect the interest of the farmers, which is clearly reflected in the Congress manifesto.
