Congress president Shri Mallikarjun Kharge and Shri Rahul Gandhi to address public meetings at North West Delhi and North East Delhi Lok Sabha constituencies for Congress candidates of India Alliance—-Shri Anil Bhardwaj

NEW DELHI, May 20, 2024—Chairman of Media and Publicity Department of All India Congress Committee Shri Pawan Khera said that Delhi was a microcosm of India and issues of Delhi become national concerns, and the plight of the labour and the poor living in the JJ Clusters, resettlement and unauthorized colonies of Delhi was a pitiful reflection of what was happening across the Country.

Addressing a press conference at the DPCC office, Rajiv Bhawan here today, along with Chairman of the Communications Department and ex-MLA Shri Anil Bhardwaj,  spokesperson Shri Anuj Attrey, and Sh Bhupesh Yadav, Shri Pawan Khera said that Delhi was once envied by people afer the 15-year rule of the Congress Government brought about amazing developments and progress, but the Modi Government  deliberately ignored and stunted the growth of Delhi as a revenge for keeping BJP out of power in the Capital since 1998.

Shri Pawan Khera said that Shri Rahul Gandhi walked over 4000kms from Kanyakumari to Kashmir, and he also passed through Delhi, to understand the problems of the people first hand, and what he saw and experienced during his long walk feature in the Congress Nyay Patra to prvide justice to the youth, women, farmers, underprivileged and others, including the first job promise to the youth and Rs 1 lakh per year to the lady of a poor family under the Mahalaxmi Scheme. He challenged Prime Minister Modi to walk 4kms through the slum clusters of Delhi to know the miserable condition of the poor. He said that almost 70 per cent people of Delhi live in slums and unauthorized colonies, and they have been  living in darkness ever since BJP came to power at the Centre. He said that the bjp Government has been making allegations and counter allegations to stall many development schemes and such kind of petty politics had never been witnessed in the Capital.

Shri Pawan Khera said that PM Modi has been giving fancy names to various schemes, but the hard fact is that 80 per cent of people depend on the 5kg of free grains doled out by the Centre exposes Modi’s claim of “Atmanirbhar Bharat”. He said that Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh, during the  Congress-led UPA Government at the Centre, had brought 27,000 crore people above the poverty line, but under the Modi Government, these poor people have again gone back to  below the poverty line, besides 14,000 additional poor under the poverty line.

Chairman of the DPCC Communications Department and ex-MLA Shri Anil Bhardwaj said that Congress president Shri Mallikarjun Kharge will address a public meeting at the North West Delhi Parliamentary constituency for Congress candidate of India Alliance Dr Udit Raj on May 22 at 5 p.m while Shri Rahul Gandhi will address a public meeting for North East Delhi Congress candidate Shri Kanhaiya Kumar on May 23 at 9.30 am in the constituency.
