A resolution passed at the meeting of the Executive Committee of the District Congress Committees hailing Jan Nayak Shri Rahul Gandhi becoming the Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha

NEW DELHI, —Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee president Shri Devender Yadav said that the people of Delhi were now looking upto the Congress party to provide able governance after the AAP and BJP Governments had totally neglected the Capital and ruined the civic services in every possible manner. Addressing the Executive Committee meetings of the Mehrauli and Tilak Nagar District Congress Committees today, Shri Devender Yadav said that the presence of a large number of District and Block Congress Committee office-bearers and workers in these meetings was an reassuring indication that Congress was ready to meet any challenge, and the party was gaining strength at the grass-root level. He said that Congress workers should remain alert and active to strengthen the party, by attracting more people into the party with total involvement in people’s problems.

 

Shri Devender Yadav said that  a resolution was passed unanimously  at the Executive Committee meetings to hail the election of Shri Rahul Gandhi as the Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha. He said that Jan Nayak Shri Rahul Gandhi, who walked over 4000kms in his Bharat Jodo Yatra and covered nearly 6000km in his Nyay Yatra, gave a new direction to the politics of the country, and Shri Rahul Gandhi will be reflecting the voice of the people in Parliament.

 

The Mehrauli meeting was organised by Mehrauli District Congress Committee president Shri Rajesh Chauhan at Agarwal Dharmashala, 100-Foota Road, Chattarpur Road, New Delhi while the Tilak Nagar meeting was organised by DCC president Shri Dharam Pal Chandela at Anubhav Banquet Hall, J Block, in front of Lal Market, Vikaspuri.

 

Besides Shri Devender Yadav, prominent other leaders who attended the meetings were Ex MP Ramesh Kumar, AICC Secretaries Amrita Dhawan and C.P. Mittal, Communication Department Chairman Anil Bhardwaj, Ex MLAs Vijay Lochav and Malaram Gangwal, Jagparvesh Kumar, P.S. Bawa, J.P. Panwar, DPMC President Pushpa Singh, Ex MCs Rajender Tanwar, Anita Chaudhary, Ved Pal Lohia, Shivram Singh, Praveen Rana and Adv. Sunil Kumar and all District and Block Congress Committee office-bearers.  

 

Shri Devender Yadav said that the main purpose of holding the meetings at the District level was to motivate the Congress workers to strengthen the party at the grass-root level, and wean maximum number of local residents into the Congress fold. He said that both the BJP and AAP Governments had misled  people with false and unfulfilled promises in the past 10 years. He said that the Congress foot soldiers, who are the backbones of the party, should not spare any effort to strengthen the party, with their involvement in the activities of social and charitable organizations, and RWAs. He said that the Congress workers should make regular interaction with people in the JJ Clusters, unauthorized and resettlement colonies, and other residential areas to understand their problems, which should be brought to the notice of the concerned authorities to solve them.

 

Shri Devender Yadav said that Congress workers should discard personal differences to work for the party unitedly as disciplined soldiers, and they should remain as role models for people to emulate which will attract common people into the party,  including those who have left the party work for various reasons.

 

Shri Devender Yadav said that every block president should hold a meeting on the 2nd of every month while the District president should such meeting on the 5th to have regular interaction with the Congress workers, take feedback from them to devise the necessary methods to enroll more people into the party. He said that people should be made aware of the inaction and incompetence of the BJP and AAP Governments in the past 10 years to serve their interest  as these parties were missing from action when people faced acute water shortage, poor  died in the heatwave, and the lack of preparedness to meet the monsoon challenge.
