Shri Devender Yadav presents a copy of the Constitution to former Lok Sabha Speaker Shri Om Birla at his residence as Congress leaders present copies of the Constitution to 54 BJP MPs to mark the 54th birthday of Shri Rahul Gandhi.

 

Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee president Shri Devender Yadav presented a copy of the Constitution, along with a covering letter, to former Lok Sabha Speaker and MP Shri Om Birla to mark the 54th birthday of Jan Nayak Shri Rahul Gandhi today. Congress leaders presented copies of the Constitution to  54 BJP MPs, including the seven BJP MPs from Delhi, as Shri Rahul Gandhi had raised the issue of protecting the Constitution, which was drafted by the great minds of the freedom movement, including Mahatma Gandhi, Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru and Dr Bhim Rao Ambedkar, after taking suggestions from the people of the country, to protect the rights and interest of every citizen of India without fear or discrimination, and by adhering the rule of law.

Shri Devender Yadav, in his covering letter, said that “the people of the country and Delhi elected you to Parliament by adhering to the Constitution. The people of the country, including  Delhi, appeal to you to raise your voice inside Parliament from time to time for the protection of the Constitution”.

The letter further noted that “today is Jan Nayak, Hon’ble Shri Rahul Gandhi’s birthday, and he has been waging a constant battle for the protection of the Indian Constitution. On this pious day we are sending you a copy of the Constitution, with a request that you should play a constructive role for the protection of the Constitution inside Parliament”.

Shri Devender Yadav said that the copies of the Constitution was presented to the 54 BJP MPs by former Congress MPs, MLAs, those who contested the Parliament and Assembly elections.

NEW DELHI,—A large number of Congress workers, led by Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee president Shri Devender Yadav,  extended their best wishes to ‘Jan Nayak’ Shri Rahul Gandhi on his 54th birthday at the All India Congress Committee office, Akbar Road, New Delhi today. Shri Rahul Gandhi accepted the greetings of each of the Congress workers and leaders with a warm smile. He also cut a birthday cake in the presence of Congress president Shri Mallikarjun Kharge, Smt. Priyanka Gandhi, AICC General Secretary Shri K.C.Venugopal and many other senior leaders.

Block presidents and workers planted saplings in all the 280 Blocks to celebrate Shri Rahul Gandhi’s birthday, besides putting up hoardings in their respective areas.

Shri Devender Yadav said that the planting of the saplings was for environmental protection, to enhance the green cover, besides raising the water table in the Capital. He said that  the recent unprecedented heatwave conditions experienced by the people of Delhi was a clear warning of the depleted green cover and the planting of sapling was the best tribute the people of Delhi could pay to Shri Rahul Gandhi, who was waging a brave battle to protect the interest of the people of the country.
