Congress will go it alone in the coming Delhi Assembly elections—tie-up with AAP was only for the Lok Sabha elections—Devender Yadav

NEW DELHI, July 16, 2024—Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee president Shri Devender Yadav said that after Congress’ vote share went up substantially in the recent Lok Sabha elections, there is renewed enthusiasm among the Congress workers and general public that the party will perform much more strongly in the upcoming Delhi Assembly elections as people now look for change as they were fed up with the misrule, incompetence and corruption of the Aam Aadmi Party and BJP Governments. He said that AAP and BJP only blame each other for their failures and incompetence without doing any constructive work to address the problems of the people.

Besides Shri Devender Yadav, prominent others who attended the DCC Executive Committee meeting were former PCC president Ch. Anil Kumar, former Delhi Minister Dr. Narender Nath,  Communication Department Chairman and ex MLA Anil Bhardwaj, Ex MLA Kunwar Karan Singh,  DCC observers Mohd. Usman and Capt. Khavinder Singh, Municipal Councillor Sameer Mansoori, Ex MCs Ch. Ajit Singh, Varyam Kaur, Bansi Lal, Rattan Singh Panwar and Ch. Prem, Anuj Attrey, Hari Dutt Sharma, Mahila DCC president Sunita alongwith BCC presidents, DCC and BCC, all frontal organization, cells and departments office bearers and a large number of  local residents and Congress workers. District president Shri Gurcharan Singh Raju organised the meeting.

Addressing a meeting of the office-bearers of the Krishna Nagar District Congress Committee at the Jhankar Banquet Hall in Preet Vihar (East Delhi) today, Shri Devender Yadav said that the Block and District Congress Committee meetings being held have activated and rejuvenated the Congress workers to strengthen the party at the booth level, and bring back Congress to power in Delhi Assembly. He said that Congress amplify the voice of the people from streets to Parliament, and with Shri Rahul Gandhi making a relentless campaign to protect the Constitution, speaking against the authoritarian rule of the Modi Government, people have now reposed faith in the Congress to protect their interest.

Shri Devender Yadav told the Congress workers that in the coming elections, Congress will go it alone as the tie-up with AAP was only for the Lok Sabha elections. He said that the people’s support for the Congress in the Lok Sabha elections was clear when the party got an increased vote share, which was a clear indication that people want Congress to fight the Assembly elections alone. He said that Congress will record an impressive victory in the Assembly elections as the poor, middle class, downtrodden, SCs, Minorities, labour, street vendors etc. are solidly behind the Congress party, and they were distressed by  price rise, unemployment, corruption, disturbed law and order and general disturbed state of governance. He said that people have been suffering due to water shortage, power tariff hike, water-logging, water theft as the Government in power only makes excuses instead of solving their problems.

Shri Devender Yadav said that Delhi Congress has started the process of strengthening the party at the booth-level, as Congress workers have been making door-to-door visits to inform people about the many failures of AAP and BJP, and the amazing development works carried out by the Congress Government when it was in power in the Capital for 15 years.

Shri Devender Yadav said that he has been making every effort to have direct interaction with the Congress workers, and get feedback from them as they are the backbone of the party, and their inputs will be used constructively to strengthen the party at the booth level. He appealed to the Congress workers to unitedly work to strengthen the party, and attract the public to the party.

Kejriwal Government keeps quiet as Centre stops funds under the Samagra Siksha Abhiyan, affecting  primary education in MCD schools—Devender Yadav

NEW DELHI, July 16, 2024—Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee president Shri Devender Yadav said that that BJP was politicising education in the country, was evident from the fact that the Union Education Ministry has stopped funds under the Samagra Siksha Abhiyan (SSA), the flagship school education programme to promote education in the country, to non-BJP Governments like Delhi, Punjab and West Bengal because of their “reluctance” to participate in the Pradhan Mantri Schools for Rising India scheme, which will affect the future of  thousands of students. He said that these three State Governments have not been provided funds under the scheme for October-December last year and January-March and April-June 2024, which was a vindictive step to ruin the future a large number of students.

Shri Devender Yadav said that funds to the tune of Rs 330 crore to Delhi have been stopped as the MCD used to pay the salaries of around 2400 teachers and 700 employees from this fund under the SSA scheme. He said that due to the slugfest between the Kejriwal Government and the BJP, students and teachers of MCD primary schools were suffering. He said that surprisingly, the Kejriwal Government has not taken up strongly  this step-motherly treatment meted out to Delhi.  He wondered why the Kejriwal Government was stopping funds to 31 Schools of Excellence as  the Chief Minister seemed to be afraid of his advertisement-based so-called ‘school education model’ getting exposed, and why he was not keen to avail funds from the Central Government scheme.

Shri Devender Yadav said that it was also very shocking that the Kejriwal Government did not utilize funds to the tune of Rs 124 crore received from the Centre last year, which  raises a finger at the AAP Government’s model of education, and the Modi Government has been acting vindictively against those States not willing to give publicity to the PM name.
