Delhi Congress, under the leadership of DPCC president Shri Devender Yadav, holds candle-light march in all the 14 districts—pray for eternal peace to the souls of the Civil Service aspirants who died due to the mistakes of the Delhi Government and the MCD


 DPCC president Shri Devender Yadav demands action against officials and Ministers responsible for the mishaps at Rajinder Nagar and Patel Nagar

 

NEW DELHI, July 29, 2024—Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee, under the leadership of DPCC president Shri Devender Yadav, today held candle-light marches in all the 14 districts of Delhi to pray for eternal peace to the souls of the three Civil Service aspirants, who died following waterlogging at the basement of a tuition centre in Old Rajinder Nagar and another Civil Service student, who died of electrocution at Patel Nagar, and to get  justice for the families of the students who died. Shri Devender Yadav also demanded strict  action against those responsible for these mishaps, which claimed precious lives of students who had a bright future.

 

Shri Devender Yadav also demanded payment of Rs 1 crore compensation to the parents of the students who died. He also sought the resignation of Delhi Water Minister Atishi and Mayor of the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) Shelly Oberoi for their inaction and negligence of duty in preventing such repeated mishaps.

 

The candle-light marches were held at Samrat Chowk at Adarsh Nagar District, Shakurpur, Hauz Qazi Chowk in the Chandni Chowk District, Metro Station, Chawri Bazar, Daroga Market in the Karawal Nagar District, Burari Chowk, Sweet Market in Babarpur District, Rain Basera, Seelampur, Main Chowk, Trilokpuri in Patparganj District, Jheel Tanga Stand in Krishna Nagar District, Haathi Wala Chowk, Karol Bagh District, Arya Samaj Road, Karol Bagh, Sector-8, R.K.Puram in New Delhi District, Mangolpuri Khurd in Rohini District, Kanjhawala Road, Nangloi Railway Station Road, Kirari District, Jat Dharmashala, 830 Bus Stand, Tilak Nagar District, opposite Masjid, Khyala, Dhansa Metro Station, Najafgarh District, Palam Metro Station in Mehrauli District,  under Palam Flyover, Peepal Wala Chowk, Badarpur District, Khanpur. District presidents, students, Congress workers and local residents participated in the candle-light march and demanded justice to the families of the dead students and severe punishment for those responsible for these accidents.

 

District presidents Surender Kumar, ex-MLA, Manoj Yadav, Mirza Javed Ali, Rajesh Chouhan, Adesh Bhardwaj, Ch. Zubair Ahmed, Advocate Dinesh Kumar, Gurcharan Singh Raju, Madan Khorwal,  Virendra Kasana, Indrajit Singh, Dharampal Chandela, Satvir Singh and Vishnu Agarwal organised the candle-light marches in their respective areas.

 

Shri Devender Yadav said that precious lives of students who would have been great assets for the country’s progress and development were lost due to the neglect, incompetence and inaction of the Aam Aadmi Party-ruled Delhi Government and the Municipal Corporation of Delhi, though Delhi Minister Atishi and Mayor Shelly Oberoi spare no opportunity in blaming others for their own failures and mistakes as they were solely responsible for these tragedies and action should be taken against them. He said that the AAP and BJP were only indulging in blame games as they were in power in the Delhi Government and the MCD, but did nothing to improve the ageing infrastructure.
