:-It is Condemnable to Play with Patient's lives by Ignoring the Demands of Doctors:-Kumari Selja

:-The Every Section is Unhappy and Distressed During the BJP Rule:- Kumari Selja

Chandigarh, 15th July.

The General Secretary of the All India Congress Committee, former Union Minister, and MP from Sirsa, Kumari Selja said that people from every section are troubled by the BJP government in the state. When they are not heard, they resort to protests and strikes. The same has happened with the Haryana Civil Medical Service Association's demands being ignored. On Monday, doctors working in state government hospitals across the state were on strike for two hours, causing significant trouble for patients. Health services in state civil hospitals are in a deteriorated state; the public has been waiting for specialist doctors for years. Hundreds of patients are referred every month, and there is not even a basic facility like an ultrasound. The condition of patients is worsening day by day. The BJP government is playing with people's lives; this situation is extremely shameful and condemnable. The BJP government has only deceived the public in the name of health services.

In a statement released to the media, Kumari Selja said that on the call of the Haryana Civil Medical Service Association (HCMSA), doctors working in state government hospitals were on strike for two hours on Monday, July 15. During this time, the OPD remained closed, and only emergency and post-mortem services were maintained, considering public service. The HCMSA Association states that doctors had suspended their movement six months ago after mutual agreement between the government and the HCMSA Association, but the agreed-upon demands have not been met to date, forcing doctors to strike again. Doctors are increasingly frustrated due to unmet demands, such as the creation of a Specialist Cadre, reduction in the bond for PG courses, stopping direct recruitment of SMOs, and providing ACP allowances equal to central government doctors. The association objects to the fact that even after six months, direct recruitment of SMOs and ACP allowances have not increased as promised by the government. They demand that vacant positions be filled; 1100 out of 3900 Medical Officer posts, 250 out of 636 SMO posts, and five out of eight director posts are vacant. There is a severe shortage of specialists in state government hospitals, but the proposal for a Specialist Cadre has been stuck in the finance department for the last four months. The proposal to reduce the amount of the PG bond has also been pending for six months. The file for regular promotions of doctors (MOs) to (SMOs) has been delayed for the past one and a half years. Doctors who joined as MOs in 2002 are still waiting for promotion. Selja said that it is truly sad that doctors (Class 1 officers) are struggling for basic issues like regular promotions, ACP, probation clearance, etc., and are being exploited. The health department and officials have been informed about the demands, but no steps have been taken to fulfill them, forcing doctors to take this step. She said that if the government has promised the HCMSA Association, why is there a delay in fulfilling it, as it is playing with the lives of the people of the state. She said that whenever Congress made a promise, it fulfilled it, and when the Congress government comes to power, health services will be further strengthened, and the interests of doctors will be fully taken care of.
