Delhi Congress to hold dharna and demonstration at Jantar Mantar on Thursday, demanding constitution of a JPC probe on Hindenberg’s expose on Adani group, and SEBI chief’s conflict of interest by keeping the Supreme Court in the dark—Devender Yadav

 

Only a JPC probe can unravel the Modi Government’s effort to protect and help  Adani become the richest—Supriya Shrinate 

 

NEW DELHI, August 21, 2024—Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee president Shri Devender Yadav said that Delhi Congress will hold a dharna and demonstration at Jantar Mantar tomorrow, Thursday, August 22, 2024 from 10 a.m to 1 p.m to protest against unemployment and corruption, and demanding the constitution of JPC (Joint Parliamentary Committee) to probe the Hindenburg Research’s expose on Adani group, and the conflict of interest of SEBI (Securities and Exchange Board of India) chairman Madhabi Puri Buch, as she and her husband Dhaval Buch held stakes in Adani-group related entities through little known offshore investment fund to aid the Adani group, and this fact she  had hidden from the Supreme Court, which had appointed the SEBI to probe the dealings of the Adani group.

 

Shri Devender Yadav, addressing a Press Conference along with  Supriya Shrinate, Chairperson of AICC Social Media and Digital Platforms Department and Chairman of the Communications Department and ex-MLA Shri Anil Bhardwaj at the DPCC office, Rajiv Bhawan here today, said that under the Modi Government, the poor has been getting poorer while some chosen few rich have been getting richer  with the BJP Government bending the rules and misusing probe agencies like ED, CBI and Income Tax department to help the Adani group flourish by  amassing the country’s wealth without any checks and balances. He said that the Hindenburg report has yet again exposed the Modi-Adani nexus as it  has  pointed out the SEBI chief’s conflict of interest with the  Adani group, yet she stays put as SEBI chief, not bothering to resign. He said that Congress, and Leader of the Opposition Shri Rahul Gandhi, have been concerned about Modi Government’s blatant misuse of power to  help the Adani group. He said that the Congress party will be holding country-wide protests on Thursday demanding a JPC probe, under the supervision of Parliament, into Madhabi Puri Buch’s dealings with the Adani group. He said that Delhi Congress’ protest at Jantar Mantar will be attended by AICC leaders, senior leaders of Delhi, office-bearers and thousands of Congress workers.

 

Supriya Shrinate said that the Hindenburg report had questioned the integrity and impartiality of Madhabi  Buch, because despite  Supreme Court’s direction to probe the dealings of the Adani group  by SEBI, the SEBI chief, after 18 months of waiting, misled the apex court with false information. She said that only a JPC probe, consisting of domain experts, can unravel the whole truth about the Adani group’s shady dealings. She said that since the Modi Government was quiet on the Hindenburg report, though it had appointed the regulator, only a JPC probe can bring out SEBI’s complicity in protecting the interest of the Adani group.

 

Supriya Shrinate said that every effort was being made to make Adani the richest in the county, by using all devious methods, including misusing probe agencies like ED, CBI and the Income Tax department. She said that no check was held when things costing Rs 2 were sold for Rs 20.

 

 Supriya Shrinate said that all rules, including foreign investment and foreign policy, were being changed to suit the Adani’s growth and cover up money laundering, and only a JPC probe can bring out the whole truth. She said four countries were holding probes against the Adani group, and wondered how long the PM will save Adani.
