NEW DELHI, September 17, 2024—Former Delhi Minister and CLP Leader Shri Haroon Yusuf said that for the past 3 days, a narrative was being created to equate Arvind Kejriwal, who went to jail on corruption charges, with Lord Ram to mislead the people, in a bid to hide his corruption in view of the coming Delhi Assembly elections, though the fact remains that the stigma of  corruption has stuck on him.  He said that Kejriwal, who came to politics driving a Wagon R, wearing an oversized shirt and  slippers, was now travelling in a Rs 50 lakh vehicle, with four vehicles for security, and lives in a palatial official bunglow built at the expense of the tax payers’ money. He said that Kejriwal professes honesty and integrity, which was a betrayal on the people of Delhi.

 

Addressing a press conference along with Chairman of the Communications Department and ex-MLA Shri Anil Bhardwaj and ex-MLA Shri Hari Shankar Gupta, at the DPCC office, Rajiv Bhawan  here today, Shri Haroon Yusuf said that when Kejriwal formed government in Delhi in 2014 with the support of the Congress, he had promised to work on 90 points, with the  Jan Lokpal on top of the agenda. He said that when Kejriwal resigned on February 14, 2014,   I, as CLP leader,   along with other Congress MLAs,  had discussed with him about the  Jan Lokpal Bill, but he was interested only in the power subsidy. He said that he misled the people with lies, as he was not interested in passing the Jan Lokpal Bill, and he submitted his resignation on false grounds. He said that when Kejriwal resigned twice as CM, he created needless drama to get people’s sympathy.

 

Shri Haroon Yusuf said that Kejriwal cannot run away from his responsibility by qutting as the Chief Minister. He said that Congress welcomes the appointment of Atishi as Chief Minister, but she, along with Kejriwal,  betrayed the poor, living in slums, unauthorized colonies, resettlement colonies, as she would have no answer to the AAP Government’s misrule in the past 11 years. He said that education, health, water, power, air pollution, transport, price rise, unemployment, liquor scam, DTC scam, power scam, Delhi Jal Board scam,  class room construction scam, tanker mafia, as most MLAs were partners of the tanker mafia, garbage mountains are issues for which people need answers from Atishi, as the AAP Government was responsible for all these scams,  He said that the AAP has been in power in the MCD for the past two years, but sanitation in the Capital has become a terrible casualty. He said that due to the incompetence of the Kejriwal Government, people were facing unprecedented agony.

 

Shri Haroon Yusuf said that the people of Delhi will not believe the lies of Kejriwal anymore as his has been corruption-ridden, empty rhetoric without doing anything for the benefit fo the people. He wondered whether Atishi will explain why 37 people lost their lives during waterlogging, and people were getting drain water in the name of free water, and because of that, even the poor are forced to spend Rs 50 to buy bottled water. He said that since 2013, Kejriwal has been talking about providing electricity at half rate, with 200 units of power free, but the reality was that power rate in Delhi was the costliest, as the power companies were charging for PPAC, surcharge, pension and other heads to double the power rate in the Capital.

 

Shri Anil Bhardwaj said that the Kejriwal Government had failed on all fronts,  as it had also failed to maintain public order, land and other subjects. He said that Kejriwal  had made many rosy promises like making Delhi like London, Paris and New York, but in the past 11 years, the AAP Government destroyed Delhi in every possible way. He said that Kejriwal had promised transparent Government, instead took corruption sky high. He said that the kind of suffering the people had gone through during the Covid-19 pandemic was unimaginable as thousands of people lost their lives due to shortage of medical oxygen, medicines, hospital beds, kits etc. He said that when people were suffering, Kejriwal was formulating the new liquor policy, and the blueprint of his palatial official residence, as Delhi became the worst Covid-hit city in the country.

 

Shri Bhardwaj said that newly-appointed Chief Minister Atishi was also involved in the corrupt liquor policy, He said that  Kejriwal  put the burden of Chief Minister on Atishi as he knows that AAP will lose the coming Assembly elections in Delhi. He said that Kejriwal had played destructive politics to mislead the people, but people have now understood his devious game plans to  reject the corrupt Kejriwal Government.

 

Shri Hari Shankar Gupta said that Kejriwal was once again misleading the people with his demand to hold the Assembly elections without dissolving the Assembly. He said that people now feel relieved after Kejriwal submitted his resignation, as people have  fully understood his gimmick and drama. He said that people were asking why he delayed his resignation. Shri Hari Shankar Gupta said that 11 years ago, Kejriwal had put out ads on autorickshaws calling Smt. Sheila Dikshit corrupt and himself honest, but now people  have reversed the picture, calling Smt. Sheila Dikshit as “Dilli Ki Messiah” and  Kejriwal as  “Thug, cheat and corrupt”.
