Sarna’s Congress Loyalties Exposed: Shielding 1984 Sikh Killers Throughout His Tenure as DSGMC President

New Delhi, September 21: I, Harmeet Singh Kalka, President of the Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee (DSGMC), categorically reject the baseless allegations made by Akali veteran Paramjit Singh Sarna. Sarna’s recent remarks only serve to mislead the Sikh community and cover up his own dark history of aligning with those who orchestrated the brutal killings of Sikhs in 1984.

Sarna, during his tenure as DSGMC President, stood hand in glove with the Congress Party, the very party responsible for the 1984 Sikh genocide. It is well-known that under his leadership, Congress leaders Sajjan Kumar, Jagdish Tytler, and other culprits accused of masterminding the anti-Sikh riots remained shielded from justice. Sarna’s allegiance to Congress ensured that these killers walked free, while Sikh families continued to suffer in silence. His loyalties have always been with those who sought to suppress and destroy the Sikh community, rather than with the victims who demand justice.

His recent defense of Rahul Gandhi’s so-called pro-Sikh remarks is nothing more than an opportunistic ploy. Sarna has always acted as a mouthpiece for Congress, a party that has not only refused to take accountability for the 1984 massacres but has continuously insulted the Sikh community’s demand for justice. His selective outrage and support are aimed at protecting his political interests, not the rights of Sikhs.

I must also highlight the consistent dedication of Manjinder Singh Sirsa, who has always stood at the forefront of Sikh rights and justice. Unlike Sarna, Sirsa has never wavered in his commitment to fight against the perpetrators of the 1984 massacre and has worked tirelessly to expose those responsible for the genocide. His efforts, both in and out of public office, have been a beacon of hope for countless Sikh families who continue to seek justice for the horrific crimes of 1984. Together, Sirsa and I have worked relentlessly to defend Sikh rights and ensure that those who tried to destroy our identity face the consequences of their actions.

My criticism of Rahul Gandhi stems from the Congress Party’s historical betrayal of the Sikh community. Sarna’s attempt to align himself with Gandhi and Congress once again is a reminder of his deep-rooted loyalties to the very people who spilled the blood of innocent Sikhs. He was, and continues to be, a protector of those responsible for our community’s suffering.

The Sikh community deserves leaders who stand firm in their fight for justice, not individuals like Sarna, who are willing to compromise Sikh interests for political gains. His decades-long support of Congress and his direct role in enabling the killers of 1984 to evade justice discredit his recent statements entirely. Sarna has always, and will always, choose the path of self-interest over the welfare of the Sikh people.
