Chandigarh/Sirsa, 5th, September.

The General Secretary of the All India Congress Committee, former Union Minister, and Sirsa MP Kumari Selja said that the BJP government in the state is looting consumers under the guise of electricity bills. Till now, this government has not set up a single power plant in its tenure, and even those that were already in place are shutting down. Instead of increasing power production, it has decreased. To appease Adani, expensive electricity is being purchased from their power plants, and consumers are being exploited. The shock that is being given to consumers in the name of bills, voters will give an even bigger shock to the BJP government in the upcoming assembly elections.

In a statement released to the media, Kumari Selja said that sometimes the FSA is increased, and sometimes charges are added, making electricity more expensive. Consumers are troubled by the rising electricity rates, and on top of that, incorrect electricity bills have become a burden for people. They even have to pay service fees to get them corrected. Kumari Selja said that for years, farmers' tube well connections are not installed. The government treats farmers like thieves. On the pretext of cut wires, their electricity connections are cut. She also mentioned that today, long power cuts are being imposed in Haryana's villages, and even in cities, long power cuts are occurring, yet the government claims there is no shortage of electricity in the state. Due to the weak planning of the government, the electricity system in Haryana is in a bad state.

Kumari Selja said that because of the government's negligence, the state is forced to purchase expensive electricity, and despite facing power cuts after buying it, traders in the state are suffering losses. This is one of the main reasons for industries leaving the state, leading to rising unemployment. Kumari Selja also said that the Haryana government neither fixes its power plants nor tries to provide good electricity to the people of the state. There is not a single BJP-governed state where electricity is available 24 hours. She pointed out that the foundation stone for the nuclear power plant in Gorakhpur village of Fatehabad district was laid by the then Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, but the BJP government has not paid any attention to it. They have not even informed when the plant will be operational. If it had been operational on time, the state wouldn't have to buy electricity, but could sell it instead. Despite many people installing solar energy plants due to the ongoing power crisis, the electricity shortage persists. At the beginning of its tenure, this government claimed that they would remove the power lines passing over houses, but instead of removing them, they have been sending notices to the homeowners living under these lines. Many accidents have occurred in Sirsa due to power lines hanging low over roofs, but instead of removing them, the corporation sent notices to the homeowners. Billions were spent in the name of maintenance, but the situation remains the same. The shock given to consumers in the name of bills will be returned with a bigger shock to the BJP government in this assembly election.
